Year 10 students embarked on their  week long work experience placement.  Work experience provided students with a first-hand understanding of what is needed to do well in a job. The time outside the classroom allowed students to learn about a particular job or area of work.

the ‘Most Inspiring Teacher’ at the Dragons Apprenticeship

Challenge’ for Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield Schools.

The 19th March 2014 awards ceremony at the Gosling Sports

Centre marked the end of a six month initiative that challenged groups of students, supported by their business ‘Dragons’, to turn £100 into £1,000+ for local charities.

Andrew Spooner came in to Stanborough for the 27th year running and gave a brilliant presentation on the First World War. He

was able to give a vivid account of life in the trenches. His use of genuine artefacts from the First World War including rifles,

shrapnel, grenades, a WW1 uniform, and the “Kit” of a

soldier living in the trenches, really brought home what the

experience would have been like for the ordinary Tommy.

For three months a group of committed Year  7,  8 and 9 students attended workshops in preparation for the Hertfordshire Festival of Words competition held at the Novotel Hotel in Stevenage.

After carefully selecting a piece of prose, they diligently practised their public speaking ability, focusing on expression, voice projection, tone together with non- verbal communication skills.
