The pastoral system works to support the personal and social development and academic progress of students. Pastoral care is organised through year-based mixed ability tutor groups. Year Leaders, Deputy Year Leaders and Tutors are responsible for the attendance, progress, behaviour and well-being of students. Tutors generally remain with tutor groups for five years from Years
7 – 11.
Each Key Stage is overseen by an ‘Achievement Manager’ and an ‘Assistant Headteacher’ who monitors the progression and well-being of 3 or 4 year groups.
Secondary Transfer
The Year 7 Learder and the Learning Support
Co-ordinator visit primary schools during the summer term to meet the children who will join us each September and to talk to their class teachers and Headteachers. They are normally joined by Curriculum Leaders who oversee curriculum progression between the primary and secondary phases.
The new Year 7 has a programme of induction to Stanborough including visits, sample lessons and tours of the school. They are supported by Year 9 students and particularly by Sixth Form prefects who develop their own skills of leadership and responsibility through organising induction activities and assisting the tutors.
